Serves: 2-4
Ingredients
  • 2 dozen chicken wings
Sauce
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ¼ cup + 2 Tbsps. Jack Daniels (or any other whiskey)
  • ¼ cup Franks hot sauce
  • 3 Tbsps. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. corn starch
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ¼ tsp. each black pepper, granulated garlic (or garlic powder)
Instructions
  1. Make sauce by heating butter and in a medium sauce pan on medium heat.
  2. Once the butter is melted, remove from heat and add remaining ingredients and stir until combined. Bring to a simmer to reduce the alcohol.
  3. Prepare charcoal grill for indirect cooking with two piles of coal on opposite sides
  4. Once hot, place wings in the middle of the grate and add smoking wood to each pile.
  5. Smoke for 20 minutes
  6. Remove wings from grill and mover coals to the center to grill over direct heat; add more coal and allow to heat up if need be.
  7. Place wings back on grill over direct heat and cook until you reach your desired crispiness level. About 20 minutes.
  8. This can be done on a gas grill as well, following the same method with high heat on one side of the grill and smoking wood for 20 minutes, then remove the wood and turn both burners on medium high and cook wings until you reach your desired crispiness level.
  9. Once done, coat wings with sauce and serve hot.
